Consumer Law
This course is designed to provide an understanding of the origin of law, the basic principles of law that affect consumers, workers, and citizens in their daily relations with one another. In addition, the student will understand his/her legal rights,privileges and responsibilities. Topics to be covered include: the U.S. legal system, criminal law, civil law, contract law, sales contracts, product liability, consumer protection, and insurance.
Consumer Law is a semester-long transcripted credit course where students can get college credit through Gateway Technical College for passing with a 70% or above.
DDHS CONSUMER LAW STUDENTS DEBATE ON PLASTIC BAN

Ms. Becke’s Consumer Law class at Delavan-Darien High School (DDHS) voted on a topic for a class-wide debate. The topic chosen was whether or not the United States should have a ban on plastic. Students took a side “for” or “against” the plastic ban and researched their argument points before a debate took place in the classroom.

Such ‘controversial’ topics included “Should College Education be Free,” “Social Media - Helpful or Hurtful,” “Is Drinking Milk Healthy for Humans,” “Is Travel Important or Frivolous,” and more!
